SMU Cox's

private companies
The 14th
Annual dallas 100™ awards
DALLAS (SMU) – With $2.99 billion in
generated sales, it was a good year for the 2004 Dallas 100™ winners.
For the 14th year, SMU’s Cox School of Business and its Caruth
Institute for Entrepreneurship present the Annual Dallas 100™ Awards,
Wednesday, November 17, at the Meyerson Symphony Center.
This year’s
winners illustrate the vitality of entrepreneurial endeavors in the
Metroplex. In the past three years, 2004 Dallas 100™ winners generated
more than $6.8 billion in sales and increased number of employees by
more than 6,000. The Top 10 winners alone generated $1.5 billion during
the past three years.
Winning this
year’s number one spot for the 2004 Dallas 100™ Awards is Southwest
Sanitary. Located in Carrollton, Southwest Sanitary is service-oriented
company and major distributor of food service and sanitation products.
With several national and local clients, Southwest Sanitary meets the
specific needs of their customers, including Subway Restaurants, General
Motors, and several school districts and independent businesses. Camille
Cheney Fournier serves as CEO, and her brother, Bobby Cheney, is
president of the 50-year-old company, founded by their parents John A.
and Nancy Cheney.
The Dallas
100™ Awards, presented by SMU’s Cox School of Business Caruth Institute
for Entrepreneurship and The CEO Institute, recognize the 100
fastest-growing private companies in the North Texas area. Businesses
must have had sales of at least $500,000 and not more than $65 million
in fiscal year 2001, and have a three-year sales history that reflects
growth during the three year sales period. Both percentage growth and
dollar growth are considered in the contest.
The Awards
presentation, held at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, featured
guest speaker David Litman, co-founder of Hotels.com and current adjunct
professor at SMU Cox. Past recipients have included such businesses as
Boardwalk AutoGroup, WorkPlace USA, Choice Homes, I2 Technologies,
M-Crowd Restaurant Group (Mi Cocina), Brook Mays Music, CapRock
